Genuine, Top Grain Italian Leather
Top grain leather is leather from the uppermost layer of a hide. It is the highest quality part of the hide. Abbyson Living procures the highest grade, genuine, top grain Italian leather to cover the seating surfaces of most of its signature Living Room Sofa sets?and Sectionals.
Top Grain Italian Leather used by Abbyson Living is a supple and very delicate, making it the best choice for your living room set.
Q: Is genuine Italian leather used all over the product?
A: No. In order to keep our prices as competitive as possible, we use our signature on all seating surfaces including the seat, seat back, and armrests. The remaining parts are covered with "Split Leather" of the same hide and color.
Solid Hardwood Construction
Abbyson Living takes extreme pride and joy in using solid hardwood in their construction. The presence of hardwood makes the foundation stronger and sturdier. Abbyson Living is an avid supporter of the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and supports multiple anti-deforestation organizations.
Throughout the furniture industry you will see constant selling and promotion of lower priced items constructed out of MDF, or other engineered woods. Abbyson Living chooses the more expensive alternative to give you piece of mind.
In order to increase the stability and strength of the wood, solid hardwood is seasoned and dried in order to take out and diminish the moisture.
Seat Cushions
High resiliency 1.8 density foam cushions are used for added comfort and support, while many other competitors sacrifice cheaper production in lower density foams, we only use 1.8 density high-resiliency foams or better. Eight-way hand-tied springs have long been considered the premium choice for sofa construction. In this method a craftsman hand ties each coil spring to the other springs and to the sofa frame with twine. The twine crosses the frame from front to back, from side to side, and across both diagonals, thus creating the "eight-ways".
Other forms of spring construction can provide good quality support as well. Sinuous springs are two-dimensional "S" shaped wires that run from the front rail to the back of the seat, spaced every few inches. Support wires cross laterally and provide additional stability and support. A sinuous spring construction may be preferable in some cases. For example, a sleek modern sofa sitting low to the ground is better served by sinuous spring construction since it requires less space in the frame.
