March 9th, 2010 admin
HGTV’s Monica Pedersen and trend expert Julie Smith Vincente showcased the home designs that could be the trend this year at the World Market Center in Las Vegas. Read on to know what to look for to upgrade your furnishings to the in vogue home design for this year.
Wood or eco-friendly furniture is becoming the fad. Helping the environment breathe a little easier while making your home comfortable and fashionable with wood accents is becoming more popular. According to Pedersen, woods are ideal for bedrooms and sitting rooms. Both experts agree that bamboo is a great way to add a natural touch to your space. It is a renewable material and it gives a unique feel to any room.

Decorate with soft shades such as yellow and gold. They give a room a fresh air and goes well with traditional furnishings.
Animal prints are making their way into the home design arena. However, don’t limit your design to just the conventional animal prints. Some designers are coming up with new animal print designs that you won’t normally see in traditional homes.
Experiment with bold accent colors. Pedersen says that color trends change every five months so don’t do a full-blown makeover. Just add accents to your home so that it will have that element of timelessness as well as a touch of the modish trends. Turquoise is the color of the year and can be used in various furnishings and décor, such as lampshades, rugs, and throw pillows.
