Impact of Massive Earthquake in Southwest China

The branch office of Wholesale Furniture Brokers in Chongqing, China was disrupted by a massive earthquake earlier this morning. The epicenter was 345km Northwest from Chongqing, yet it was still felt by millions of people in the area.

“Over 8500 people have died so far,” says Eric Liang, Assistant Manager in the Chongqing WFB Branch Office. “At about 2:32pm, we suddenly felt our monitors shaking. Then after a few seconds, the entire building started to shake as well. People working above us on the 20th floor could hardly stand up for the few minutes the earthquake hit.”

Everyone was immediately evacuated from the office buildings. Everything closed down for the day including shopping centers, malls, restaurants, and grocery stores.
