Description:
Wholesale Furniture Brokers is just putting the finishing touches on a brand new, in-house built site management system. The new platform is currently in the first phase of rollout with many new and features on the list to come. This new system doubles as both front end content management system, and a complete order processing system for our sales and admin staff. In the primary role, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and improving the new management systems. The candidate will also be responsible for designing and implementing new systems, occasional internal tech support, and network maintenance.

The candidate's main responsibility will be Application Development:

  • Maintain and improve order management systems
  • Act as designer for implementation of new backend systems
  • Analyze current business processes and recommend new systems to improve performance
  • Update templates and styles on the ecommerce sites
  • Create new features on the ecommerce sites

The candidate will also, as needed, be responsible for internal support:

  • Trouble shoot, upgrade and maintain our Linux servers
  • Monitor and improve security of our internal network and servers
  • Prepare and roll-out new hardware and network upgrades
  • Provide desktop support for Windows computers within the office
  • Research and implement new tools to improve overall productivity
  • Provide other technical wizardry as required for other staff members

Desired Skills & Knowledge:
The ideal candidate will have 1 - 2 years experience in a Linux-Apache-MySql-PHP (LAMP) style environment designing web-based systems.  Other relevant web development experience will also be considered. The position will require usage of the following skills and technologies:
  • PHP Zend Framework
  • MySQL
  • jQuery
  • Object Oriented Design
  • Model-View-Controller architecture
  • Website interface design
  • Source control management
  • Exceptional English skills, both written and spoken

Previous web design experience with CSS and AJAX will be considered a definite bonus. Please provide any samples of your work if applicable.
