Murphy Beds in Vernon, BC

A Murphy bed is a full size bed that folds up into a wall unit or cabinet when you are not sleeping in it, freeing the floor for other uses. Wholesale Furniture Brokers ships Murphy beds to Vernon and the North Okanagan from brands including Night and Day, Modubox, Sleep Chest, True Contemporary and Rustic Classics, with wall beds starting under $1,200.

Cabinet bed or wall bed: what is the difference?

Cabinet beds are freestanding. The mattress folds into a chest that looks like a sideboard or console, and nothing attaches to the wall, so they suit strata condos, rentals and rooms with no usable wall studs. Wall beds mount to the wall and lift up into a tall frame. They usually take a thicker mattress and feel closer to a standard bed, and many pair with storage units, shelving or closet organizers.

Horizontal or vertical: which fits your ceiling?

A horizontal Murphy bed folds sideways, so it sits lower on the wall and works under sloped ceilings, below windows and in basement suites with lower ceiling heights. A vertical Murphy bed folds lengthwise, takes up less wall width and suits rooms with standard or tall ceilings. Measure the wall width, ceiling height and open floor depth before you choose; every product page lists the dimensions you need.

Matching a Murphy bed to your Vernon space

• Basement or secondary suite: A horizontal wall bed keeps a low profile and turns a small suite into a living area by day.
• Home office: Murphy beds with a desk, such as the Night and Day Artisan desk bed and the Modubox Lumina, keep the work surface level while the bed folds down behind it.
• Downtown condo or townhome: A cabinet bed gives guests a real mattress without wall anchors or permanent changes to the unit.
• Silver Star ski condo: A freestanding cabinet bed, such as the Rustic Classics Stow or a Sleep Chest model, adds sleeping space for a full ski group.
• Lake season guest room: Murphy beds with a couch give summer visitors a place to sit by day and sleep at night.

Murphy Bed FAQ for Vernon Shoppers

Is a Murphy bed comfortable enough to sleep on every night?

Yes. Many of our wall beds are designed for nightly use, with a mattress support system that holds a regular mattress. Choosing a quality memory foam or gel memory foam mattress in the thickness the frame allows is what makes a Murphy bed feel like a standard bed.

Does a Murphy bed have to be attached to the wall?

Wall beds do. They must be anchored securely to the wall structure, which is why assembly service is worth considering. Cabinet beds are freestanding and need no wall mounting at all.

Do Murphy beds come with a mattress?

It depends on the model. Many Night and Day and Rustic Classics cabinet beds include a gel memory foam mattress, Sleep Chest cabinet beds include a 6 inch mattress, and several wall beds are sold both with and without a mattress so you can choose.

What size Murphy bed should I buy?

A queen suits couples and primary bedrooms, a full suits most guest rooms and offices, and a twin works for kids' rooms and narrow walls. Check the open depth of the bed against your room before ordering, since the bed needs clear floor space when lowered.
