Reclining sofa or stationary couch?

A stationary sofa has a fixed back and seat, which gives it a cleaner profile and lets it sit close to the wall. The True Contemporary Sterling tufted sofa in tan faux leather and the Urban Cali Long Beach modular sofa are stationary designs, and the Urban Cali Eureka is a sleeper sofa that pulls out into a bed for guests.

A reclining sofa lets each person lean back and raise a footrest. Manual reclining sofas, like the Levoluxe Sereno, recline with a lever or a push on the backrest. Power reclining sofas, like the Levoluxe Cain, Cavron, Brindle and Sentinel, recline smoothly at the touch of a button and can stop in any position.

Power reclining sofa features

• Power headrests: Tilt the headrest forward for a better view of the TV when reclined, on models like the Levoluxe Colton, Cavron, Odessa and Sentinel.
• Adjustable headrest: The Levoluxe Lennox has a headrest that adjusts for extra neck support.
• Cupholders, storage and drop down tray: The Levoluxe Colton 3 seater adds a centre tray with cupholders and hidden storage.
• Pillow top arms: Extra padded arms on the Levoluxe Aveon make it comfortable to lean on or lie across.
• Independent units: The Levoluxe Galveston 2 seater comes as separate left and right units with a low profile and wide track arms, which makes it easier to move into place.

Leather match or fabric for a Kelowna summer?

Kelowna summers are long and hot, and that can affect which couch upholstery feels best. Leather match sofas, like the Levoluxe Colton, Cavron, Brindle and Lennox, wipe clean easily and suit homes with kids and pets, though leather can feel warm on bare skin in peak summer heat. Woven fabric sofas, like the Levoluxe Cain in weave fabric and the Sentinel in tweed, breathe well and stay comfortable year round.

What size sofa do you need?

Sofas in this collection range from about 76 inches wide for a compact 2 or 3 seater to 106 inches for a large 2 seater with deep reclining seats. As a guide, choose a sofa about two thirds the length of the wall it sits against, and leave about 45 centimetres (18 inches) between the sofa and the coffee table. Smaller Kelowna condos and townhomes often suit a 76 to 81 inch sofa, while family rooms in larger homes can take an 88 to 92 inch 3 seater.

Kelowna Sofas FAQ

Is there a difference between a sofa and a couch?

Today the words mean the same thing and are used interchangeably, and many Canadians say couch in everyday conversation. Historically, couch comes from the French word for lying down and described a seat for reclining, while sofa described a more formal upholstered seat for sitting upright.

How much space does a reclining sofa need behind it?

It depends on the design. Some reclining sofas need several inches to about 30 centimetres (12 inches) of space between the back and the wall to recline fully, while wall hugger styles slide forward as they recline and need very little. Check the clearance listed on each product page before placing a sofa against a wall.

What is a modular sofa?

A modular sofa is made of individual sections that can be arranged in different ways or added to later. The Urban Cali Long Beach modular sofa can be rearranged as your space changes and expanded into a larger sectional.

Will a sofa fit through my door?

Measure the width and height of every door, hallway and stair turn on the path to the room, and compare them with the sofa's depth and height on the product page. Many sofas can be angled through a doorway, and modular sofas and sofas with independent units, like the Levoluxe Galveston, arrive in smaller pieces.
