Warm leather tones for Nicola Valley homes

Browns, tans and cognac shades suit the farmhouse and ranch interiors found across the Nicola Valley. Levoluxe recliners come in leather match colours like cognac on the Cavron and a rich espresso on the Knox power reclining sectional, and the Ladon lift chair is upholstered in Bayside Brown. For a tailored look, the True Contemporary Sterling tufted chair and loveseat come in premium tan faux leather.

Recliner features explained

• Power recline: A motor tilts the back and raises the footrest at the touch of a button, and stops at any position in between.
• Power headrest: A separate motor tilts the headrest forward, so you can watch TV comfortably while reclined.
• Adjustable headrests: Urban Cali sleeper sectionals like the Hollywood and Burbank have headrests you raise by hand for extra neck support.
• Storage console: A centre section between two seats with a lidded compartment for remotes and blankets, as on the Levoluxe Aveon and Odessa loveseats.
• Cupholders and drop down tray: Built into models like the Levoluxe Colton for snacks and drinks.
• Swivel glider: The chair rotates and glides smoothly, as on the Colton, Cavron and Brindle chairs.

Arranging seating around a wood stove

Many Nicola Valley homes heat with a wood stove, and it often becomes the focal point of the living room. Keep sofas and recliners at least the clearance listed on your stove's installation label, often about 90 centimetres (36 inches) from an unshielded stove, and remember that a recliner extends forward when it opens. Angling a sectional toward the stove creates a cozy conversation area without crowding it.

Merritt Living Room Furniture FAQ

What happens to a power recliner during a power outage?

Most power recliners stay in whatever position they were in when the power went out and return to normal operation once it is restored. If outages are common where you live, ask whether a battery pack is available for the model you are considering.

Do power recliners need to be plugged in?

Yes. Power recliners plug into a standard wall outlet, so plan your layout so each powered seat is within reach of an outlet. Route cords behind the furniture rather than across walkways.

How do I clean leather match furniture?

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills right away with a slightly damp cloth. Use a leather conditioner on the leather seating areas a few times a year, and avoid harsh household cleaners, which can dry out or discolour the surface.

What is minky corduroy?

Minky corduroy is a soft, plush fabric with raised ribs, combining the velvety feel of minky with the texture of corduroy. It is used on sectionals like the True Contemporary Ridgeway and Urban Cali Calabasas.
