Murphy Beds in Merritt, BC
A Murphy bed is a bed that lifts and folds into a wall unit or cabinet, turning a bedroom back into usable floor space during the day. Wholesale Furniture Brokers delivers Murphy beds to Merritt and the Nicola Valley in twin, full and queen sizes, including desk beds, wall beds with a sofa, and freestanding cabinet beds, with prices starting under $1,200.
One room, two jobs: home office and guest room
If you work from home in Merritt, a Murphy bed with a desk lets the spare room serve as your office all week and a guest room when family visits. The Modubox Lumina queen desk bed starts under $2,400 and can be expanded with one or two matching storage units for files and supplies. The Night and Day Artisan twin desk bed comes in black walnut and is offered with a choice of Rest Therapy mattresses.
Murphy beds with a built in sofa
A Murphy bed with a couch gives a room seating by day and a full bed at night, so the space works as a den, TV room or reading room. The Modubox Versatile queen system pairs the wall bed with two storage units and a matching sofa, and the Nebula queen is available with a sofa as well.
Twin Murphy beds for kids' rooms
Folding a twin bed away during the day opens up floor space for play, homework or a craft table in a small kids' room. True Contemporary Heidi horizontal wall beds come in twin size in white, brown and rustic grey, starting under $1,200. Browse all twin Murphy beds.
Should you buy the bed only or with a mattress?
Many Murphy beds are sold both ways. Buying with a mattress means it is sized and matched to the frame, while buying the bed only can save money if you already own a mattress that fits the frame's limits.
- Night and Day Murphy Cube cabinet bed: under $1,500 bed only, or under $1,900 with a queen gel memory foam mattress
- True Contemporary Heidi III horizontal wall bed: under $1,200 bed only, or under $1,500 with a mattress
- Night and Day Artisan twin desk bed: under $2,500 desk bed only, or under $2,800 with a mattress
Affirm financing offers 0% interest options over 3, 6 or 12 months. Our Kamloops showroom is about an hour north of Merritt on the Coquihalla Highway, with same day pickup on in stock items. Need a mattress for a bed only frame? See Merritt mattresses.
Merritt Murphy Bed FAQ
How does a Murphy bed lift mechanism work?
A Murphy bed uses springs or gas pistons to counterbalance the weight of the bed frame and mattress. That balance lets an adult raise or lower a full or queen bed with little effort, and keeps the bed from dropping open on its own.
Are Murphy beds safe for kids' rooms?
Yes, when installed correctly. Wall beds must be securely anchored to the wall structure, and any mattress used should stay within the frame's thickness and weight limits so the mechanism stays balanced. Teach children to let an adult open and close the bed.
Can a Murphy bed go in a manufactured home?
A wall bed needs strong wall framing to anchor into, and walls in some manufactured homes and older cabins may not be built for that load. Have the wall checked before installing, or choose a freestanding cabinet bed, which needs no wall anchoring.
Do Murphy beds need assembly?
Yes. Most Murphy beds arrive in several heavy boxes and take two people to assemble, and wall beds also need to be anchored to the wall. Choosing white glove delivery with assembly at checkout means the delivery team handles the build.
